marco: " i can only hope to wake up on 1st january and realise that all was a bad dream"

Re: Kawasaki leaves MotoGP!!!!!!!
Kawasaki's shock move to pull out of MotoGP effective immediately brings light to an important if not timely question: is MotoGP even sustainable? With horrible financial news rocking both the US and Japan, racing itself will now come under new focus from corporate accountants as they try to find a plan which will see their company through to the end of the recession. MotoGP's huge costs are not going to be looked upon favorably by these people. MotoGP, with its pneumatic valve engines, massive crews, dreamy electronics and enormous budgets is a good time economy dream. When the economy is good, racing against your rivals in a heavily-watched world championship is favorable for the brand and positive for employee morale.
However, those that live by the sword may one day face it as well. Those same factors that make MotoGP such a global motorsports focal point are the exact ones that may doom it as well. In a boom economy, it's a good thing that you race a hugely-expensive prototype series using machinery that has very little relation to your production machines. It's all glamour and Hollywood, man.
The economy tanks, though, and the fact that your company races a hugely-expensive world championship series using prototype technology—and the effort has a price tag of $10-15 million dollars or more per season—might well be viewed as a liability. It certainly means that more execs will be looking at the MotoGP budget than ever before. And that is rarely good.
Especially in light of MotoGP's rival world championship—World Superbike. The WSBK series features production-based motorcycles and dramatically lower costs. How much lower? It's estimated that Kawasaki could race an entire half-season of WSBK—with a well run team—solely on John Hopkins' MotoGP salary.
Clearly the current economic realities at Kawasaki are shockingly dire. Consider this: Here is a MotoGP team and a big energy drink sponsor. They have 2009 contracts with riders, test riders, crew and others in place, meaning they are committed to paying these people and firms, probably whether they race or not. That known, they now have decided that they would rather pay all of those contracted fixed costs and not race, rather than paying those costs and going racing.
These are truly amazing times. Kawasaki worked for nine months to extract Marco Melandri from his Ducati contract, only for them to shelve the entire team roughly four months before the start of the season.

Re: Kawasaki leaves MotoGP!!!!!!!
Seems that Marco will go at Honda Gresini or at Team Scot. Gresini wanna take Marco, but they can not push off de Angelis or Elias. But Scot say that they can take Melandri, if Gresini agree to give them one of the four bikes they own. In this case, Scot will need a bugget bigger, and Dorna agree to help in this case. In the same time, Scot say that they agree to let Marco to Gresini, if Gresini will let de Angelis go on Scot...
In the next days, we will find out where will Marco go this season
well, at least we know he will not leave moto gp
