Moto2: Iannone fast at Barcelona test
Article from http://www.gpone.com/index.php/en/news/37-ultime-news/2878-moto2-iannone-va-forte-a-barcellona.html
The MotoGP class began testing last week at Sepang, and now it's the turn of the Moto2 and 125cc riders to clear off the winter rust. Ahead of the larger group sessions on February 10-12 at Valencia, and February 15-17 at Estoril, a spartan group of riders got off to a head start at the Montmelò circuit in Barcellona. The Moto2 riders were using "unofficial" Honda engines, not built to championship spec.
The fastest on track was Andrea Iannone (ex Speed Up, pictured at left), who lapped in 1:47.08 on his Suter. This was actually faster than his 2010 pole time at the same circuit (1:47.493).
Also doing well was class rookie Marc Marquez. The reigning 125cc champion, riding with his Repsol sponsorship, started out lapping in the 1:49 range, but finished up with a solid 1:48.3, bringing his Suter within range of the more experienced Italian.
The team Pons Racing pair of Aleix Espargaro and Axel Pons were in action as well. The former MotoGP rider recorded a best lap of 1:48.4, while the son of the former 250cc champion lapped two tenths slower.
Team Technomag CIP saw Dominique Aegerter put in a best lap of 1:49.7.
One of the more interesting riders in the category, two time World Supersport champion Kenan Sofuoglu, could only test on the first day (1.50., however, before returning home because of a family problem.
Barcellona also saw the two riders from Paris Hilton's team in action, Sergio Gadea and Maverick Viñales, while the heiress herself was nowhere to be seen.
