Scott Redding repeated his fine form from Friday’s practice at Indianapolis to finish as the fastest rider again, lowering the quickest lap of the weekend so far to 1’46.068 in the second Moto2 session on Saturday.
That placed the young Brit 0.135s ahead of Andrea Iannone (Fimmco Speed Up) and marked an improvement of over seven-tenths of a second on his FP1 time. In third spot was Ratthapark Wilairot (Thai Honda PTT Singha-SAG) whose final lap put him within two-tenths of Redding, with Julián Simón (Mapfre Aspar) close behind in fourth.
Championship leader Toni Elías (Gresini Racing) was fifth with Raffaele De Rosa (Tech3 Racing) and Anthony West (MZ Racing) following. Yusuke Teshima (JiR Moto2) complete the top eight but had a big crash on the final turn at the end of the session, and was in clear pain as he was attended to by medics on the side of the track.
Arne Tode (Racing Team Germany) and Michael Ranseder (Vector Kiefer Racing) both had falls in the session. An absentee after being declared unfit for the race following Friday’s practice was Karel Abraham (Cardion AB Motoracing), who is still feeling the effects of concussion after crashing at Brno.
