Good opening session satisfies Lorenzo

Fiat Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo arrived at Indianapolis on Friday looking to strengthen his grip on the 2010 MotoGP World Championship, and a successful opening practice served as a good start to the weekend for the Spaniard.
With seven wins from the ten rounds to date and having triumphed on the U.S. track in last year’s race Lorenzo is quietly confident, and set the second fastest time behind Casey Stoner as he began assessing his M1 in preparation for Sunday’s race.
"I rode really well today and improved a lot during the practice. The rear was sliding a lot, maybe because the temperature is so high; it's a lot hotter than last year!” said the 23 year-old, whose best time of 1’41.109 was 0.225s off Stoner’s marker and had seen him leading the session.
“I think the level between the top riders here is more or less the same and everyone is looking very strong. Everyone will improve further tomorrow and we must make sure we do so as well. It will be a good battle!”
Lorenzo’s Team Manager Wilco Zeelenberg confirmed that it had been an accomplished session for the rider, who tried out both Bridgestone race tyres. The Dutchman said: "We were able to try everything we needed to try. We're quite happy to be second and the handling and balance is quite good. It's very bumpy of course and we need to work a little bit to minimise the wheelie in places, but basically it feels good for Jorge. We also know the direction for the tyres already so this is everything we could wish for today.”
Lorenzo also added a congratulatory note to Ben Spies following the announcement that the American will join the factory team next season. “Finally I want to say congratulations to Ben Spies, I think it is great news for him and for Yamaha."
