Guintoli goes quickest as Biaggi sits it out

Quickest time in the opening WSBK session went to Sylvain Guintoli on an Effenbert - Liberty Racing Ducati. Right behind the Frenchman was Jonathan Rea (Castrol Honda) ahead of the second Ducati from the Czech Republic team in the hands of Jakub Smrz. Michel Fabrizio (Suzuki Alstare), who tested at Phillip Island last week, was fourth quickest ahead of the Kawasaki of Joan Lascorz and Carlos Checa (Ducati Althea Racing).

Despite still suffering from an unfit shoulder, Marco Melandri (Yamaha World Superbike Team) managed to notch up seventh fastest time, ahead of Leon Haslam on the first BMW machine. James Toseland on the BMW Italian version was 14th ahead of Haga, while Akira Yanagawa has replaced Chris Vermeulen for these tests, as the Australian is not yet in a condition to ride.

Due to the still slightly damp conditions, the Aprilias of Max Biaggi and Leon Camier remained in the pits.
