Smith "improving with every lap"

Bradley Smith is in the middle of a busy period of his Moto2 inauguration, the Brit having completed a three-day Test at Valencia on Saturday and today (Tuesday) scheduled to commence another at Estoril.
The outing at Valencia provided the 20 year-old Tech 3 rider with his first taste of the 2011 prototype he will campaign in his debut season in the category, and he also made a significant improvement on his lap times on the final day as his familiarity with the bike continues to grow.
“It was very positive, and it was the first time I got to try the 2011 bike,” evaluated Smith in the attached motogp.com interview. “Obviously we had to start from scratch and gradually build up, and just learn as much as possible from the 600cc. I’m still relatively inexperienced so these days are very helpful, and of course Portugal is going to be even more beneficial. I’m looking forward to riding the bike more and seeing the progression come.”
Smith completed close to 190 laps across the three days, using team-mate Mike di Meglio’s Moto2 experience to his benefit too as he explained.
“Mike and I are both working in the same direction with the bike, set-up wise,” said Smith. “We’re trying different ways and talking to one another about which direction we feel the bike needs to go in. We’ve done a couple of sessions with one another riding around, and being able to use his experience has definitely helped me take a step forward.”
With his confidence steadily growing the 2009 125cc runner-up is aiming to maintain his current rate of progress at the two remaining Tests at Estoril and Jerez, in order to be as competitive as possible when the opening round in Qatar arrives on March 20th.
“With every lap I’m improving and getting better,” Smith stated. “We’re still a long way from where we need to be, we have to work hard, but a nice thing to work towards would be Rookie of the Year and to be the best of the newcomers. We’re a little bit away from that at the moment, so we’ll see how the rest of the pre-season Testing goes and then as the season progresses.”
“I’ll learn from every race and I’m looking forward to getting more laps under my belt and just making progress with the Tech 3 team,” he concluded.
