Marquez honoured by his peers
Article from http://www.motogp.com/en/news/2010/Marquez+125+Michel+Metraux+trophy
The Michel Métraux Trophy, traditionally awarded by IRTA – the association of the teams taking part in the World Championship – to the best private rider, goes to Marc Márquez for the 2010 season.
As all riders are currently in independent teams they now vote for the rider who has improved the most over the season, with 17 year-old Márquez selected by his fellow competitors after a season which has so far produced ten wins, two further podiums and 12 pole positions.
Márquez, who secured the Trophy with seven votes, could seal the 125cc World Championship today, which would make him the second youngest title winner in the history of the sport.
