Spies and Edward: 2010 in review
Article from http://www.motogp.com/en/news/2010/Spies+and+Edwards+feature+on+first+season+together
As the 2010 season approaches its final round this weekend in Valencia a number of changes beckon for 2011, one of which will be Ben Spies’ move to the factory Yamaha team after a successful rookie campaign in the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 set-up.
Working alongside the experienced Colin Edwards, the two Americans have operated in tandem to share their individual knowledge and experience and in the attached motogp.com feature interview they discuss the 2010 season.
“We approach racing in a similar way, we both have fun but when it’s business we both want to win. We ask each other for advice and help each other out, and I think that’s especially good for a satellite team. We take it seriously, and I’m sure we will hang out next year even though we’ll be in different teams,” explained Spies.
Edwards, who remains with the Tech 3 team next season after signing a one-year contract extension and will again help to welcome a rookie to the fold in Cal Crutchlow, said: “It’s been a lot of fun, a year to remember! We share everything really, our bikes are very similar and pretty close and we’ve helped each other throughout.”
