Estoril Test continues to fall foul of weather

Day two of the Moto2 and 125cc Test at Estoril on Wednesday followed a similar pattern to the previous day, with the on-track action limited by constantly changing weather. Many riders, including Marc Márquez (pictured), opted not to ride at all.
As a hangover from Tuesday the track remained wet with a cold and windy atmosphere greeting those present in the morning, and Moto2’s Randy Krummenacher (GP Team Switzerland Kiefer Racing) and 125cc rookie Harry Stafford (Ongetta-Centro-Seta) were the only two riders to have braved the conditions by 10.30am local time as the mixed session lasted until 1pm.
Several spells of rain in the afternoon continued to make matters difficult for the riders and teams during the scheduled individual Moto2 and 125cc session, each planned to last 1h25m, with the sun only appearing towards the 5pm end time.
With the wind unrepentant a handful of Moto2 riders took to the track in the afternoon, as Pons Racing duo Aleix Espargaró and Axel Pons, MZ Racing pair Anthony West and Max Neukirchner, Technomag CIP’s Kenan Sofuoglu and Dominique Aegerter, Tech 3’s Mike di Meglio and Bradley Smith and a returning Krummenacher set about trying to establish a basic feel for the World Championship track.
Krummenacher, Smith, Espargaró, Aegerter and Neukirchner all experienced crashes without consequences, and the track was opened to both classes late in the afternoon after the lack of viable time during which to ride in the morning. Activity amongst the 125cc class was almost nil.
The third and final day of the Test takes place tomorrow, with further wind, rain showers and a peak temperature of 15ºC for the afternoon forecast.
