Cortese leads again in final practice at Jerez

The German rider who was fastest in Friday's FP2, once again was top of the timesheets with a lap time of 1’47.066, his quickest time set on lap 15 of 16. In a session where everybody improved their lap times from the previous time, with the exception of Sergio Gadea (PEV-Blusens-SMX Paris Hilton, Cortese’s lap time was 1.6s faster than what he had achieved in FP2.
Conditions were overcast and much cooler than Friday, with rain forecast for the race on Sunday. The Intact Racing Team Germany rider had a margin of 0.554s over race winner at Losail, Terol. Portuguese rider Oliveira moved up from tenth quickest on Friday to third this morning.
Héctor Faubel (Bankia Aspar) who made his debut in Jerez as a wild-card rider in 2000, was in fourth place, with a deficit of 1.466s behind the quickest lap. Jonas Folger (Red Bull Ajo Motorsport) was close behind in fifth, one place ahead of the other rookie making it into the top ten, Maverick Viñales (PEV-Blusens-SMX Paris Hilton).
Frenchman Johann Zarco (Ajo Motorsport) continued to set pace that kept him within the top ten, this time finishing in seventh, 1.726s behind Cortese. Completing the final three places of the top ten, Efrén Vázquez (Ajo Motorsport) in eighth after a crash on Friday, Adrián Martín (Bankia Aspar) in ninth who brought his session to an early halt with a crash in the last five minutes and Alberto Moncayo (Team Andalucía Banca Cívica) taking tenth.
It was a frustrating morning for Gadea after losing the front and sliding off into the gravel. With some help from the marshals, he was able to rejoin the track. Luigi Morciano (Team Italia FMI) also took a trip into the gravel but was able to continue.
